This week, I found myself sitting with something I haven’t felt in a while—the weight of everything happening across reproductive health policy.
The last time I felt this way was about a year ago, when a wave of federal actions and state proposals all seemed to accelerate at once. Since then, the changes have continued, but often in ways that felt more incremental—easier to take in piece by piece.
Lately, it’s felt different. What stands out now is how much is happening on multiple fronts at once—and how much broader the conversation has become than I ever expected.

P.S. We’ve added five new states to our WRDI site: Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina, and South Carolina. You can now dig deeper into how these states compare across rights categories, including current snapshots of their policy landscapes.
Access is tightening for women across the reproductive care system—not just through laws, but through how care is delivered and supported.
New federal actions are targeting medication abortion, including legislation that would remove FDA approval of the abortion pill and ongoing investigations into manufacturers. States are also moving in different directions—some expanding protections, while others are advancing new restrictions, including proposals that could affect access to certain forms of contraception.
Meanwhile, broader system pressures—like Medicaid cuts and the uncertainty of Title X funding—are affecting clinics, providers, and the availability of both abortion and contraception.
