WRDI Watch

Wow, what a week!

I approached this election with a healthy mix of hope and apprehension. After watching women's rights challenged, restricted, and rolled back, I'm relieved to see a real opportunity to move in a meaningfully better direction.

In January, state legislatures across the country will begin meeting again. Thousands of bills will be introduced, old proposals will get another look, and newly elected officials will begin putting their priorities into action.

For WRDI, that means an exciting and very busy year ahead. We'll be following developments in Congress and state legislatures, looking at where women gain or lose legal protections and what those changes mean in everyday life.

In this issue, I'm sharing two new articles that help put the election results in perspective. And then I'll take a closer look at three specific issues that could have a direct impact on women's lives in 2027: abortion access, Medicaid coverage, and workplace protections.

There's plenty to be hopeful about!
